Join this well-respected medical malpractice and personal injury law firm with a 40-year legacy of representing New Mexicans. We are looking for a Paralegal to support four attorneys, although with other support staff.
Location:
Downtown Albuquerque, NM
Compensation:
- Starting Salary: $50K
- Benefits: Employer-paid health insurance (BCBS Blue Preferred Silver EPO), 401(k) with 3% match after 1 year, 15 days PTO, overtime pay for hours over 40/week, and mileage reimbursement.
Responsibilities:
- Manage office operations: greet clients, maintain office appearance, answer phones, take messages, and distribute mail.
- Handle file management using a cloud-based system, including court filings and drafting pleadings using provided templates.
- Assist with client intake, data collection, and scheduling follow-ups.
- Support Attorneys during trials: set up equipment, run errands, arrange meals, and procure supplies.
- Travel with Attorney for out-of-town trials when necessary (1-2 times annually for up to 2 weeks per trip).
- Perform personal assistant tasks for Mr. Wood during business hours (e.g., prescription pick-ups, lunch pickups) and maintain strict confidentiality.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Proficient in computer operations and troubleshooting.
- Effective communication and listening skills.
- Excellent time management to meet deadlines.
- Ability to adapt to individual Attorney preferences.
- Valid driver's license required.
Schedule:
- Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
- Extended hours during trials as necessary.
Work Environment:
- Business casual dress code in the office; formal business attire for court appearances.
