Job Description
We are assisting a respected personal injury and medical malpractice law firm in Albuquerque in their search for a full-time Intake Specialist. This is a unique opportunity to join a small, mission-driven legal team that specializes in complex and emotionally impactful medical malpractice cases. The Intake Specialist plays a crucial role as the first voice and point of contact for potential clients seeking justice and support. This position is ideal for someone who is empathetic, highly organized, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, highly detailed environment.
This role is primarily remote, though the first two weeks of training will be conducted in the firm’s downtown Albuquerque office. Occasional in-office work may be needed thereafter. Standard hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Compensation and Benefits

Starting base salary of $47,500 annually

Overtime pay at time and a half for any hours over 40/week (with prior approval)

Firm-paid health insurance for employee and dependents (coverage through BCBS Blue Preferred Silver EPO) starting the 1st of the month, 60 days after hire

401(k) with 3% employer match after one year of employment, beginning on the next January or July

15 days of PTO annually, available immediately (prorated based on start date)

Paid holidays as trial schedules allow (always closed on Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day)

What You'll Do

Answer incoming calls and emails from potential clients in a timely, professional manner

Conduct initial phone interviews with potential clients, demonstrating empathy, active listening, and clear communication

Take thorough notes during intake conversations and report findings to the legal team

Determine whether the firm is a good fit for each potential client and communicate accordingly

Decline cases that are not a match with compassion and professionalism

Facilitate onboarding for clients whose cases the firm accepts, including document handling and system setup

Handle sensitive and potentially disturbing medical information and images with discretion and composure

Attend occasional team meetings outside of standard hours (eligible for OT pay)
Who We Are Looking For
We’re seeking someone who is highly reliable, emotionally intelligent, and calm under pressure. The right candidate will be a strong communicator, tech-comfortable, and able to work independently from home while remaining closely connected to the team. Prior experience in a law firm or handling emotionally sensitive subject matter is a plus but not required.
