Director of Accounting and Finance
Job Description
We’re working with a renowned nonprofit research institute to find a Director of Finance & Accounting who will oversee financial operations, compliance, and reporting. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in data-driven decision-making, strategic planning, and cross-functional collaboration. You’ll work closely with leadership, department heads, and the board to ensure financial transparency, guide budget planning, and oversee audits and grants.
Compensation & Benefits

What You’ll Do

Lead all financial operations, budgeting, reporting, and audits.

Provide data-driven insights to guide long-term financial planning.

Manage grants & funding – Work with sponsored research teams to oversee federal and private foundation grants.

Oversee banking & investments – Monitor financial liquidity, banking relationships, and institutional investments.

Ensure compliance & best practices – Stay ahead of nonprofit accounting regulations and IRS reporting.
Who We’re Looking For
- 8-10+ years in nonprofit/university finance, with at least 3 years leading a team.
- Expertise in financial compliance, grants, and nonprofit reporting.
- Bachelors in Accounting, CPA preferred; experience with Blackbaud a plus.
- Strong communicator who can distill complex financial data for non-finance stakeholders.
